Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about PLU Laboratories formulations, shipping, and policies.

Face

What is in PLU Laboratories GHK-Cu Face Tonic?+

Six ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, 1% GHK-Cu (Copper Tripeptide-1), and Phenoxyethanol. No hyaluronic acid, no vitamin C, no botanical fillers. Just two clinically studied peptide systems at research-grade concentrations.

How do I use Face Tonic in my routine?+

Apply 2-3 drops to clean, dry facial skin once daily (morning or evening). Allow about 30 seconds to absorb. Layer other products separately if desired, peptides work best when not diluted in the same formulation.

How long until I see face results?+

Published research on Palmitoyl Peptides and GHK-Cu typically notes visible appearance changes within 6-8 weeks of consistent daily use. Some users notice improved skin feel within 2-4 weeks; more pronounced firmness appearance develops over 3+ months. Individual results vary.

Is Face Tonic safe for sensitive skin?+

Both GHK-Cu and Palmitoyl Peptides are generally well tolerated at the concentrations we use. If you are new to copper peptides or have highly reactive skin, patch test on your inner forearm first and start with once-daily use on clean skin. Discontinue if persistent irritation occurs.

Can I use Face Tonic with retinol, vitamin C, or other actives?+

Yes, apply them separately rather than mixing. Apply Face Tonic first to clean skin, let the peptides absorb, then layer retinol, vitamin C, or hyaluronic acid on top. Many users alternate retinol nights with peptide nights to minimize irritation.

Why doesn't Face Tonic include hyaluronic acid or vitamin C in the formula?+

Clinical research on GHK-Cu, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 examined these peptides as focused formulations, not diluted with other active ingredients in the same product. Adding hyaluronic acid or vitamin C reduces the peptide concentrations studied in literature. Layer them separately if desired.

Is it safe to switch from another copper peptide brand to PLU?+

Yes. Both products use the same copper peptide (Copper Tripeptide-1, also written GHK-Cu). There is no washout period required. Substitute PLU into the same slot in your routine. See our side-by-side at asterwood alternatives.

I am coming from a lower-concentration copper peptide serum. Will 1% GHK-Cu irritate my skin?+

Generally well tolerated. Research has examined copper peptides across a range of concentrations. If you are stepping up from a very low concentration, start with once-daily use on clean skin, apply before heavier moisturizers, and build up as your skin adjusts.

Hair

What is in PLU Laboratories GHK-Cu Hair Tonic?+

Water, Glycerin, 1% GHK-Cu (Copper Tripeptide-1), 1% Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, and Phenoxyethanol. A dual-peptide system: copper peptides supporting scalp health plus biomimetic peptides studied for hair follicle support.

What is the difference between GHK-Cu Hair Tonic and AHK-Cu Hair Tonic?+

The copper peptide variant. GHK-Cu (Copper Tripeptide-1) is naturally occurring and has decades of skin and hair research behind it. AHK-Cu (Copper Tripeptide-3) is a synthetic variant with research focused specifically on hair follicle applications. Both formulas are 1% copper peptide plus 1% Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 in the same clean 5-ingredient base, ingredient preference is the differentiator.

How do I use Hair Tonic?+

Apply 2-3 drops directly to a clean, towel-dried scalp in areas of concern once daily. Massage gently. No rinsing required. Takes about 20-30 seconds.

How long until I see hair results?+

Clinical research on Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 and GHK-Cu typically notes appearance changes within 3-6 months of consistent daily use. Some users notice scalp comfort and hair feel within 2-4 weeks. Hair density appearance develops gradually; consistency matters more than starting intensity.

Can GHK-Cu help with hair density appearance?+

Research suggests GHK-Cu may support hair density appearance through scalp health and follicle biology. Our Hair Tonic pairs it with Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 (biomimetic peptide targeting the dermal papilla) for a dual-peptide approach studied in clinical literature. Individual results vary.

Is Hair Tonic for men only, or can anyone use it?+

Anyone. Research on GHK-Cu and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 applies equally across genders. We position for men in some marketing for efficiency-focused messaging, but the formulation supports scalp and hair appearance regardless of gender.

Ingredients

What is GHK-Cu (Copper Tripeptide-1)?+

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper peptide made of three amino acids (glycine, histidine, lysine) bound to copper. NIH research describes GHK-Cu as both a signal peptide (communicating with skin cells) and a carrier peptide (delivering copper ions studied for tissue processes and collagen production pathways).

What are Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7?+

A dual-peptide complex working together as matrikine signaling peptides studied for fine lines appearance and skin texture. Many peptide serums contain only one of these or substitute with unrelated peptides; the complete complex requires both.

What is Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3?+

A biomimetic peptide extensively studied for supporting hair follicle structure. Research suggests it targets the dermal papilla (the foundation of hair follicles) through cellular signaling mechanisms, distinct from hormonal DHT-blocker pathways.

Why combine multiple peptides instead of using just one?+

Each peptide works through different mechanisms studied in clinical research. Combining GHK-Cu (signal and carrier peptides) with Palmitoyl Peptides (matrikine signaling) or Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 (biomimetic follicle support) creates a comprehensive approach through complementary pathways rather than relying on a single peptide.

What concentration of peptides is most effective?+

Clinical research examines these ranges: GHK-Cu 0.5-2%, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 0.5-2%. Our formulas use 1% GHK-Cu, Palmitoyl Peptides, and 1% Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, balanced between efficacy studied in literature and tolerance across skin and scalp types.

How should I store peptide products?+

Store at room temperature (60-75 degrees F) in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Avoid bathrooms where temperature and humidity fluctuate. Keep bottles tightly closed. Peptides are sensitive to temperature extremes and light.
